The Museum of Crypto Art (M○C△) puts forward a broad swath of perspectives meant to upend our sense of who we are. It poses two questions: “What is art?” and “Who decides?” We seek to constantly challenge, create conflict, and provoke.

As a crypto-native cultural institution, we have a few key objectives:

• Ensure foundational crypto art moments and artifacts are preserved and presented truthfully
• Engage with digital art that represents cryptocurrency culture and values
• Incubate artistic expression between artists, technology, and the blockchain
• Invite other collectors and crypto institutions to contribute to and experiment with M○C△

Fine art viewership, interaction, ownership, historical “canon”, and architecture are all evolving at M○C△

M○C△ evolves in six phases in order to build accessible curation technology, decentralize across the Metaverse successfully, and create power structures that ensure the long-term stewardship M○C△’s Artwork.

Phase 1: Genesis Collection

The M○C△ Genesis Collection is the first subset of the Permanent Collection seeded with 230 crypto artworks from 230 artists. The Genesis Collection honors artists who pioneered crypto art and redefined digital ownership.

Collectors are invited to contribute artworks to the Genesis Collection in exchange for $MOCA. Works are vetted by a 7-person Artist Council.
